self analysis

step ladder.
with the step ladder i learnt a new way of chiseling out, and in general i learnt how to put together a step ladder...
this will be value to me because its given me more skill in using chisels and plainers.
i think i went well in drawing up the ladder, and putting the ladder together.
a couple of the slots for the steps were a bit rough, but they turned out good. i think i can do this better next time now because ive had more practice.
i gave myself a 7/10.

self analysis

setting out and leveling.
i thought this was helpful, i learnt how to use u dumpy level, and how to find heights and convert them to other places.
this will help me alot beacause leveling is somthing i need to know, i might not use it all the time but i need to know how to do it.
i think i did well in finding the correct heights, and measurements.
i could improve on keeping the whole job square, ours was a little bit out and it was difficult to find square and correct measurments at the same time.
i gave myself 8/10.....

tuesday 23/10/07

today we carryed on with the setting out of a house pad. we were put into groups of 3 and each group was given a different pad to set out. we had to measure out all the profiles correctly at the right height. then we had to set up all the srtringline points. once all the stringlines were on the nails, we had to go through and check it was all square, then go through and check all the measurements.

monday 22/10/07

on monday we started learning about house pads. we where given a shape to mark out with string lines. we practiced setting up and getting measurements correct. we had to make sure each profile was at the correct and same height.

thursday 18/10/07

Today we started learning about plans and different types of plans. also we learnt about leveling and different ways of leveling. after morning tea we were given a few leveling tasks to do. the 1st task was to level 2 pegs that were 11 mtrs appart, we used the dumpy level, a spirit level, and a water level. in the arvo we spent time on the computers writing about the week.

wednesday

on wednesday the class was working on the step ladder all day.

step ladder

tuesday.... on tuesday morning we finished off the checklist, i started off doing the construction plan, which was just a written plan of the steps that needed to be done prior to building the steps. after that we did a wms (work method statement) which was pretty much the same thing, we had to break the job down into steps, in order from first to last. once we had finished the portfolio checklist, we were able to start our step ladder.

step ladder

on monday we started organising the steps to be done before making the step ladder. we got a constuction plan given to us, and had to draw it up to full scale so we could work off it. also we had to do a site safety plan of the whole workshop, this was done for safety reasons, so we knew where the exits and fire extinguishers were ect....we had to quote the job aswell to a pretend client, telling them how much/what timber was to be used.
